How Can I Help?
Volunteer:
The Dream Factory is a volunteer-based
organization. One of the most important
tasks of our volunteers is to find critically ill
children, by working closely with physicians,
medical staff, social workers, teachers,
the clergy, friends and families.
How
much time does it take? Your commitment to the
Dream Factory can be as time-consuming as you want
to make it. Your individual time commitment is
based on your lifestyle and your ability to make
dreams come true.
How
often do we meet? Our meetings are held on the 3rd
Monday of every month. If you are interested in
attending a Dream Factory meeting, please go to
the "Contact Us" page for the location and time.
We do not require a membership fee or any other
form of dues from our volunteers -- the only cost to you is your
time. We value your
generous support of time, talent, and
enthusiasm.
Why
should you volunteer? Everyone deserves a chance
to dream. Your commitment will put a smile
on the face of a child whose life has been
dramatically changed by a serious medical
condition. We believe it will put a smile on
your face as well.
If you
don't want to volunteer your time, you can help
with a tax deductible charitable contribution.
If you are curious about where your dollars go,
we at the Dream Factory share that same concern.
Too often, your charitable dollars leave your
community to pay high administrative costs. With
the Dream Factory, 90% of every contribution
stays with the local chapter to fulfill dreams
of children, 5% goes to the National
Headquarters to cover its administrative
support and new chapter development, and 5% goes
to cover the administrative cost of the local
chapter. With the Dream Factory, you can be
assured that you are helping children in your
own community to fulfill a dream.
So, as you
can see, 90% of all funds raised are used to
fulfill dreams for our "dream children." From
trips to The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World
to the opportunity to meet famous celebrities,
the Dream Factory calls upon all of its resources,
financial and human, in creating the moment of a
lifetime.
